South Walton Dance Company offers a wide range of recreational dance classes designed to inspire confidence, creativity, and strong technical foundations. Whether your dancer is just starting out or continuing their training, our structured, age-appropriate classes help every student grow in skill and artistry.
Classes are organized by age and level to ensure proper development and progression.
Ages 3–5 | Must Be Potty Trained
The perfect first dance experience! Intro to Dance introduces young students to ballet basics through imaginative movement, rhythm activities, and structured classroom routines. Dancers develop coordination, listening skills, and confidence in a fun, nurturing environment.
Ages 5–7
Ballet Level A introduces foundational ballet technique including basic positions, introductory barre work, and simple center exercises. Dancers build posture, coordination, musicality, and discipline while developing a love for classical ballet.
Ages 7–11
Level B Ballet strengthens technical foundations with more structured barre work, proper turnout, alignment training, and center floor progressions. Dancers focus on posture, strength, and graceful movement as they continue to grow in discipline and technical precision.
Suggested Ages 13–18
Designed for experienced dancers, this faster-paced class builds strength, balance, and fluidity through advanced barre work, progressions, and layered combinations. Students expand their movement vocabulary while refining classical lines and control.
Ages 4–7
A fun, energetic beginner class where dancers explore rhythm and sound through foundational tap steps. Students develop coordination, timing, and musicality in an upbeat, age-appropriate setting.
Ages 7–12
This blended-level class builds intermediate tap skills through progressive combinations and rhythm training. Dancers strengthen timing, clarity, and footwork while enjoying high-energy choreography.
Ages 10–18
Tap Level B focuses on stronger rhythmic patterns, traveling steps, and technical clarity. Dancers refine coordination and musical precision through more complex combinations while maintaining an engaging and dynamic class environment.
Suggested Ages 6–9
An energetic introduction to jazz technique. Dancers develop strength, flexibility, and musicality while learning beginner turns, jumps, and dynamic choreography in a supportive setting.
Suggested Ages 9–11
Building on foundational skills, this class adds increased technique, performance quality, and more challenging combinations. Students refine turns, jumps, and musicality while gaining confidence on the floor.
Suggested Ages 12–17
A high-energy, technique-focused class for experienced dancers. Students train in a variety of jazz styles while working on strength, flexibility, performance quality, and precision through structured warm-ups and dynamic choreography.
Ages 4–6 | Must Be Potty Trained
A high-energy class designed for young movers! Dancers learn beginner hip hop fundamentals including rhythm, weight shifts, musicality, and basic acrobatic elements, all set to age-appropriate music in a confidence-building environment.
Ages 6–9
Dancers build foundational grooves, footwork, and rhythm skills while developing performance quality and stage presence. This class focuses on coordination, musicality, and beginner acrobatic elements in a fun, structured setting.
Ages 9–11
Students expand their hip hop vocabulary with more layered choreography, improved musicality, and introductory breaking elements. This class strengthens confidence, coordination, and personal style.
Ages 12+
A more advanced hip hop class challenging dancers with complex footwork, textures, and performance development. Students refine technique while learning dynamic, layered choreography in a high-energy environment.
Suggested Ages 7–11
Best paired with ballet training, this beginner lyrical class focuses on fluidity, emotional connection, and storytelling through movement. Dancers develop grace, musical interpretation, and expressive performance quality.
Suggested Ages 13–18
A more advanced lyrical class that challenges dancers in emotional storytelling and technical control. Ballet training is strongly encouraged to support the level of movement and artistry required.
Suggested Ages 5–7
An introduction to acrobatic fundamentals using safe progressions. Students learn beginner skills such as bridges, rolls, balances, and supported inversions while building strength and flexibility.
Suggested Ages 7–18
This class advances dancers into more complex skills including handstands, walkovers, balance variations, and connected acro sequences. Students develop power, control, and seamless transitions into choreography.
All Levels
Focused on technical precision, this class develops strong jumps, controlled turns, and clean transitions. Dancers build strength, flexibility, alignment, and coordination through drills and across-the-floor progressions.
All Levels
Contemporary blends ballet, modern, and expressive movement styles. Dancers explore grounded movement, fluid transitions, dynamic textures, and emotional storytelling while building strength and artistry.
